Charmaine Gooden
Charmaine Gooden is a recognized name in the Canadian Publishing, Public Relations and Event Management arena. As one of Canada's foremost authorities on beauty, fitness and fashion, Gooden's comprehensive knowledge is regularly sought by various media to showcase her expertise gained over almost two decades as a magazine editor, TV producer and host, publicist and event manager.
Beginning with a four-year term as Director of Public Relations and Special Events for Holt Renfrew stores across Canada, Gooden took specialty retail promotion to unprecedented heights. She planned and managed many high profile media events including the exclusive Canadian launch of international designers Giorgio Armani and Donna Karan. She also engineered the introduction of prestige beauty and fragrance brands such as Sisley and Giorgio Beverly Hills.
From Holt's, Gooden went to Chatelaine, Canada's premiere women's magazine, where she held the post of Health & Beauty Editor for 8 years. Parlaying her interest in physical fitness, nutrition, fashion and body care, she became a trusted advisor to millions of readers. During her tenure, focused editorial content helped to raise beauty advertising to the number one media buy in the magazine. Gooden was also a regular beauty, fashion and fitness correspondent for CBC Newsworld, City TV, and WTN.
Drawing on the knowledge culled from 8 years of first-had exposure to international and local experts in fashion, beauty and health, Charmaine embarked on the creation of a magazine format beauty program for television. She conceived, wrote, co-produced and hosted The Beauty Guide, which aired on WTN cable network for four seasons.
Gooden re-entered the publishing world in 1999 as Editor-in-Chief of Images Magazine, a beauty and fashion magazine, on behalf of Multi-vision Publishing.
While in the Editor's chair at Images, she produced the largest and most successful issue ever.
Most recently, as Charmaine Gooden & Associates, she launched a new phase of her career in 2001. Her expertise in publishing, broadcast, event management and media relations is now available on a consultancy basis. Clients to date have included Club Monaco, Caban, Christian Dior, and Shiseido.
